Are You Designing An Enclosed Patio?

Did you recently enclose your outdoor patio? Perhaps you have added an enclosed patio to your existing floor plan. Either way, from selecting the wall treatment to buying new furniture for the enclosed patio, here are some ideas that might help you to design an attractive and unique room.

The Wall Treatment - Consider bringing nature into your enclosed patio, a feeling that you are sitting in a beautiful garden. If you decide on a nature-themed room, it might be a good idea to start with the wall treatment, thus setting the mood for other decorative aspects of the room. If you select paint for the walls, consider choosing light blue, pale yellow, soft green and other soft colors that you would find in nature. Then add extra interest to the painted walls by stenciling them with a brighter color of paint. For example, select something like butterflies, flowers or insects for your stencil. Another idea is to select wall paper that has those things as the central design of the wall paper. Or, faux paint your walls to look like old brick or like wooden paneling. If you aren't comfortable with faux painting the walls yourself, professional painters will more than likely be able to do that treatment, or they will recommend somebody who has that skill.

The Patio Furniture - Consider buying wicker furniture which will add to the garden look you have selected. Or, choose a regular sofa and select nature-themed fabric for the upholstery. For example, choose a fern design or a bamboo design for the fabric. Or, think of choosing a neutral color for the fabric, maybe khaki or off-white, and then add throw pillows with a floral design. How large is the room? Is there enough space to add a floor to ceiling shelf? If so, consider buying a wooden one that complements the sofa and chairs you have selected. use the shelf to display things like potted plants, figurines of things like squirrels and birds and books about nature. Adding a bench swing that hangs from the ceiling would probably add some drama to the room. Another idea is to hang a hammock instead of the bench swing, or in addition to the bench swing. And, think of buying an indoor wall fountain that will bring the sound of water into your enclosed patio. Decorative birdhouses strategically placed would add a pretty touch, too.
